In countries like the United States and Australia where property sizes are larger, to reduce the need for the mail carrier to walk extra distances when the front door is some distance from the street, letter or mail boxes may be mounted on convenient posts at the property boundary.
Some letter boxes are very boring, however, some people let their imagination run wild when designing their mail box.
