Many Faces of Jim Carrey

November 30th 2009 01:22
Jim Carrey as Scrooge
A Christmas Carol

In his latest film Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol, motion-capture technology allows Jim Carrey to show off his skills as Scrooge (in four different stages of life) and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come.

Jim Carrey has built a career through his rubber faced versatility. Thanks to the Chicago Tribune, today we look back at some of his best known films. Read the full article here.

Ace Ventura Pet Detective
For his breakout film role, Carrey worked his rubber features to maximum effect. If ever there was a role created to play off Carrey's excessive mugging, it's this one. There's no subtext here: It's really about a guy who investigates pet-related cases. And makes funny faces. From this, a star was born.

Jim Carrey Pictures - The Mask
The Mask
Coming off of his stint on "In Living Color," comedian Jim Carrey took on the role of Stanley Ipkiss, a hapless bank employee who stumbles across a mask that transforms him into an unstoppable, green, yellow-suited fun machine with reality-bending powers. Shifting from a boring bank employee to a super-charged masked hyper guy afforded Carrey a lot of freedom to be as giddy as possible. Over the top is how this character is, and Carrey plays him perfectly.

The Truman Show
Truman Burbank was adopted by a corporation and lived his entire life in front of cameras, oblivious to the world outside. After 30 years, he starts to notice little things that are out of place in his somewhat structured life. His cheery disposition becomes hyper-suspicious and he becomes distant, hiding in his basement, allowing Carrey to unlock all kinds of emotions and physical reactions. Eventually, he finds his way out into the real world.

Dumb and Dumber
Sporting a bowl haircut and chipped tooth, Carrey used his boyish grin to pull off the part of Lloyd Christmas in "Dumb and Dumber." It's one misadventure after another as the dim-witted limo driver and his pal Harry make their way to Aspen, Colo., in search of Lloyd's crush, Mary. Whether he's singing his own version of "Mockingbird" or trying to convince a cop he hasn't been drinking, Carrey takes every opportunity to show off his silly side.
