Helicopter Camouflage

Awesome Paint Job

camouflaged eagle helicopter in Iraq

Check out what some of our boys overseas did to their helicopter.

This very special Mi-24 helicopter is presently flying in Iraq ,
where it is no doubt causing quite a stir.

Helicopter painted like an Eagle

Eagle painted Mi-24 helicopter in the air in Iraq

Update. Turns out this helicopter isn't in Iraq after all!
The type of helicopter shown in these images is a MI-24 HIND. The unusually-decorated version pictured here belonged to the Hungarian Air Force and was evidently painted with the eagle design by one of its crew members. The craft was not used in military operations and carried no armaments; it was strictly a display vehicle exhibited at air shows and the like. It is believed this helicopter has since been decommissioned and no longer exists.

This is NOT flying in Iraq.

You assholes need to check your facts before posting.

It's owned and operated by one of the former soviet countries and not even near Iraq.

This is the last flight of No. 117 (Mi-24 Hind D) in Veszprem, Hungary, Central Europe (1700 m NW from Baghdad, 1200 m from London )

The paintwork is by a local graffity artist for this occasion only.

The heli lead the formation of 17 Mi-24 and Mi-8 on the closure of the local military base. It's been decomissoned and waiting for a better faith beside 30 others.

The closure was a political decision and the pilots decided to protest. As they cannot disobay direct orders so that seemed the best solution. In fact the squadron flew under the legal limit over the mayor's office, risking to face court mashall.

Photos by Istvan Tamas (the lucky colleague who flew with them on that summer day in 2005).
