What could possibly be so attractive about sticking your head out the window of a car that's moving at fast speed?
Social petworking site My Smelly has some interesting theories:
A) The more air passing through their nostrils the more powerful the smell sensation.
B) They feel happier outdoors rather than inside the 'stuffy' car.
C) Because it's fun.
Below are some pictures of high speed canines. See the full photoset here.
Every June, Loews Coronado Bay Resort, near San Diego, California plays host to the Dog Surfing Championships. Last year there were 60 canine competitors in three categories - small surfing dogs, large surfing dogs and combo surfing (dogs surfing with a human).
Each dog has three waves to impress the judges who are looking for confidence level, length of ride and overall ability to "grip it and rip it."
Some dogs try to earn extra points for style, with board shorts, sunglasses and even 4-legged wet suits being spotted on the competitors.
The event raises money for the Modest Needs Foundation charity. The Surf Dog Competition has a blog here if you would like to know more or are thinking about entering your best friend!
Here are some pictures of dogs enjoying themselves over the summer months, especially in the water and swimming. You can see more summer photos of our canine friends here.
We've seen photos of perhaps the fattest dog in the world, but what about the biggest? Below is a contender. I'm unable to determine his exact size or breed, but you'll have to admit, that's one giant pooch.
Not so long ago I posted pictures of perhaps the fattest cat in the world. Today, we ask the question, is this the fattest dog in the world?
