Chess Boxing is the newest sport to hit the world circuit. Starting in Germany in 2003, the sport has grown exponentially ever since with Russia recently emerging as a new force.
The idea behind this hybrid game was simple, combine the best thinking sport with the best fighting sport for the ultimate contest of mind and body.
In a Chess Boxing match there are 11 rounds, 6 chess and 5 boxing. A chess round lasts for 12 minutes with time limits on each move, then a 3 minute boxing round. There are numerous ways to win such as a knock out, check-mate or a points victory.
