Celebrity Cheating Scandals
January 4th 2010 01:27
As reported in the Chicago Tribune, Tiger Woods is only the latest in a long string of celebrities to be caught straying.
This article takes a look at many well known incidents of celebrities cheating from years gone by.
The charming Brit had some stammering explaining to do when he was caught with his pants down -- literally -- with prostitute Divine Brown. The world wondered why he was hanging with a hooker when he had actress Elizabeth Hurley -- who showed off her hot bod in a Versace safety pin dress on the red carpet -- at home. Grant and Hurley broke up, but the story does have a happy ending for Brown, who told The Independent newspaper in Britain that she'd made more than $1 million from the ensuing publicity.
Like you don't know! It was all over the media when Brad took up with costar Angelina on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Too bad Mrs. Pitt -- otherwise known as Jennifer Aniston, a.k.a. Rachel from Friends -- was also in the picture. Not for long -- Brad dumped Jen in 2005, and Brangelina was born. And none of the players have been out of the tabloids since.
This affair was squicky on so many levels. Woody had been with actress Mia Farrow for 12 years when she found nude pictures that Woody had taken of her adopted daughter, Soon-Yi Previn. Woody admitted to the affair, used the now-famous "The heart wants what it wants" defence, and he and Farrow broke up. Allen and Previn are still going strong -- and so are the heebie-jeebies that this whole situation evoked.
Dashing Brit Jude Law was dating similarly accented actress and fashion plate Sienna Miller, but apparently that wasn't enough to keep him occupied. No, he chose to spend more time than necessary with Daisy Wright, the nanny for his children with ex-wife Sadie Frost. Miller may have been able to get over that, but when the other woman published her diaries, which spilled on her and Law's sex life, Sienna called it quits.
Mel and Robyn Gibson, who married in 1980, have seven kids -- and now, a Hollywood divorce. Robyn filed for divorce in April, citing the ever-popular "irreconcilable differences." We wonder if those "differences" included Russian singer Oksana Grigorieva, who just gave birth to Mel's eighth child.
La Liz may be the most celebrated Hollywood Home-wrecker on record -- and the Eddie Fisher affair shows why. Fisher and wife Debbie Reynolds were America's Sweethearts, but that didn't stop Fisher from taking up with Liz when her third husband, Mike Todd, died in a plane crash. The Fisher/Reynolds divorce was a huge Hollywood scandal (remember when cheating stars were seen as scandalous? Neither do we), but Reynolds got the last laugh -- Liz dumped Eddie for Richard Burton (who she married twice) a scant five years later.
